Pork Asado Recipe
Ingredients
- 1 1/2 lbs pork
 
- 1 teaspoon five spice powder
 
- 1/2 cup soy sauce
 
- 1/3 cup brown sugar
 
- 1 teaspoon garlic minced
 
- 2 tablespoons cooking rice wine
 
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
 
- 1 to 2 cups water
 
- 1 1/2 lbs pork
 - 1 teaspoon five spice powder
 - 1/2 cup soy sauce
 - 1/3 cup brown sugar
 - 1 teaspoon garlic minced
 - 2 tablespoons cooking rice wine
 - 1/4 teaspoon salt
 - 1 to 2 cups water
 
Instructions
- 
Combine soy sauce, five spice powder, garlic, cooking rice wine, and salt then mix well.
 
- 
Marinade the pork in the combined mixture for at least 1 hour.
 
- 
Heat a cooking pot then put-in the pork along with the marinade and water then let boil.
 
- 
Add vinegar, then bring to a boil. Add anise, bay leaves, and brown sugar and stir to distribute evenly.
 
- 
Simmer for about 40 minutes flipping the meat after 20 minutes or so to tenderize the other side.
 
- 
Turn off the heat and remove the meat from the cooking pot.
 
- 
Allow the meat to rest for about 10 minutes then slice.
 
- 
Transfer to a serving plate and top with the thick sauce then serve.

Chicken and Pork Asado (Rey's version)
Ingredients
- 2 lbs (or 1 kilo) chicken cut into serving pieces
 - 1/2 kilo pork liempo
 - 1/2 cup soy sauce
 - 1/4 cup butter
 - 1 large onion diced
 - 3 cloves garlic
 - 2 pcs dried bay leaves
 - 4 pcs star anise
 - 2 large potatoes quartered
 - vinegar
 - 1/3 cup brown sugar
 - 3/4 cup cooking oil
 - salt and pepper to taste
 
Instructions
- Rub the chicken and pork with salt, pepper, garlic, onion powder (optional) and soy sauce. Let it stand for at least 30 minutes.
 - Heat a frying pan then pour-in the cooking oil and Pan Fry the chicken and pork. Set aside.
 - Heat a cooking pot or wok then put-in the butter, sauté the onion and garlic.
 - Put-in the pan-fried pork and add water. Cook for 15 minutes, then add the pan-fried chicken and marinade. Bring to a boil.
 - Add vinegar, then bring to a boil. Add anise, bay leaves, and brown sugar and stir to distribute evenly.
 - Simmer until the meat are tender.
 - Add the potatoes and simmer for another 10 minutes.
 - Season with salt and pepper.
